Certified Peer Specialist (CPS)

Initial certification is earned through the ADMH Certified Recovery Support Specialist Training Program: https://mh.alabama.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Guidelines_and_Requirements_of_the_AL_CertifiedPeerSpecialistsTrainingProgram.pdf

Participation in the Alabama Certified Specialist Training Program requires a significant and long term commitment of time and energy. You are expected to participate in the full five days of training, including evening sessions, complete assigned homework, and you are expected to take the final exam.

Quarterly Continuing Education Training attendance is required to maintain certification.

Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS)

Initial certification is earned through the ADMH Certified Recovery Support Specialist Training Program: https://mh.alabama.gov/certified-recovery-support-specialist-training-program/ 

Once certified, a Certified Recovery Support Specialist must obtain sixteen (16) education hours each year by the deadline of December 31st. Currently, the only trainings accepted are provided by the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH). No other hours will be accepted.
