About the Course

This course examines the use of the J-IPV screening tool. It was developed for real-world practice with a realistic test time. It is self-administered as part of a structured interview and has a score for severe IPV, which should be continued on for assessment. The tool was property validated with some false positive for severe IPV, was those were still factually correct for non-severe IPV. It’s benefits include: being a public domain tool, is very simple to use and score with a test time of 2 minutes, and discriminates between severe IPV victim/perpetrator so it can be decided to assess IPV only if scored severe if there are time constraints during intake.

This course is based on the article, Screening on Perpetration and Victimization of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)-Two Studies on the Validity of an IPV Screening Instrument in Patients in Substance Abuse Treatment created by Fleur L. Kraanen, PhD, et al.A in 2016.
