About the Course

Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) has been found to be an effective treatment across anxiety and depressive disorders. Given the high level of overthinking about food, weight, and shape in adults with Anorexia Nervosa (AN), MCT was thought to be a plausible treatment for this population in order to reduce overthinking and associated behaviours. We conducted preliminary research which demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of MCT to treat adults with AN. This workshop aims to explain and practice some of the fundamental skills for using MCT to treat patients with AN.

This course is based on the video, Modifying Metacognitive Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa created by Rachel Tauamiti, MSC, PGDipClinPsych et al in 2020.
