About the Course

Most studies of clinical ethics are based on scenarios, not direct reporting of how clinicians and clinical teams actually cope with ethical challenges. In this study, the authors use focus group discussions with clinical teams to describe how mental health care professionals deal with ethical challenges in clinical settings, with a focus on coercion. The authors highlight opportunities to support ethical practices and constructive team process, with potential benefits for both patients and staff.

This course is based on the article, Dealing with Ethical Challenges in Mental Health: a Focus Group Study created by Bert Molewijk, Marit Helene Hem, PhD, and Reidar Pedersen, MD in 2021.
