About the Course

This course explores the development and implementation of digital service tools in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, focusing on the case study of the Finnish Navigator client segmentation tool. Drawing from qualitative research with professionals involved in its design, participants will examine the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in healthcare and social services for people with SUD. Key themes include the digital divide, stigma, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the tension between service standardization and person-centered care.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Navigating Challenges and Opportunities created by Janika Kosonen et al. in 2024.

Hana Kuc is a Licensed Mental Heath counselor and a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor who has been working in the field for 13 years. In that time she has worked as a counselor, therapist, educator and director. Hana has specialized in working with clients on medication assisted treatment, who are in recovery from opiates, and are also diagnosed with a mental health disorder.

Target Audience

Counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.
