About the Course

Dr. Doverspike offers a succinct discussion of some of the most basic ethical principles that guide the decisions of psychologists and other mental health professionals. Written from a practical perspective designed to minimize risk for the practitioner, the book addresses such important topics as informed consent, proper documentation, and avoidance of dual relationships. Dr. Doverspike presents clear guidelines for ethical practice and formal decision-making models to guide the therapist who wishes to take a proactive stance in avoiding ethics complaints. He also includes guidelines of benefit to the practitioner who is faced with a complaint or investigation. Finally, a number of appendices offer customizable informed consent forms, checklists, and other forms that incorporate the documentation advocated in the book.
