It covers the teenager years, a time of rapid change that sees bodily changes, emerging sexuality, identity formation, social and academic stressors, conflicts with values families, as well as separation from family. It discusses the symptoms of depression and attempts to understand the causes. The tragedy of suicide is viewed within a family systems context. Treatment considerations are discussed through sections on evaluation, individual and family therapy, medication usage, and hospitalization.
