Impact CE's distance-learning courses meet the continuing education requirements of the Florida Board of Psychology.
These hours count toward your 40 CE credit hours, but must cover specific content.
Three (3) of the forty (40) hours must be on professional ethics and Florida Statutes and rules affecting the practice of psychology. Of those three hours, at least one hour shall be on professional ethics, and at least one hour shall be on Florida laws and rules relevant to the practice of psychology
At least one hour shall be on Florida laws and rules relevant to the practice of psychology.
Every third renewal, you must complete a two hour continuing education course on domestic violence.
"Domestic violence" means any assault, aggravated assault, battery, aggravated battery, sexual assault, sexual battery, stalking, aggravated stalking, kidnapping, false imprisonment, or any criminal offense resulting in physical injury or death of one family or household member by another family or household member.
Two (2) of the forty (40) hours must relate to prevention of medical errors, including a study of root-cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient safety. If the course is offered by a facility licensed pursuant to chapter 395 for its employees, the Board will approve up to one (1) hour of the two (2) hour course to be specifically related to error reduction and prevention methods used in that facility.
The Board of School Psychology does not allow continuing education providers approved by another Board within MQA to offer Medical Errors courses as complementary. The only exception is when the course is also approved for Medical Errors for Psychology. We do have a Medical Errors course approved for Psychology. The ONLY course we have available for psychologist is course 101522, "Medical (Behavioral Healthcare Practice) Errors."
Every credential below carries the same requirements.
Each requires 40 CE credit hours to renew.
House Bill 975, Background Screening and Certifications, passed during the 2024 Legislative Session, establishing background screening requirements. For more information, visit the state’s page with more details and a step by step explanation of the process: https://flhealthsource.gov/background-screening/
Three (3) of the forty hours must be in ethics and Florida statutes, with at least one hour in ethics and one in statutes.
Two (2) of the forty hours must be on the prevention of medical errors.
The Florida Board of Psychology only accepts credit to the tenth (i.e. 1.2 not 1.25). For courses worth 1.25 or 1.75 credits, the Florida Board of Psychology will credit 1.2 and 1.7 credits respectively.
