About the Course

In response to the new Code of Ethics adopted in 1997 by the National Association of Social Workers, Frederic Reamer has written a completely updated edition of his classic work, exploring the implications of the new code for fulfilling social work's enduring commitment to vulnerable and oppressed populations. In this work you will find: A dicussion of the conceptual foundations of each of six core values considered to be the basis fo social work ethics; additional material on confidentiality and privacy; vignettes helping to explain in practical terms the reasoning behind the code's guidelines; and a comprehensive overview of the issues of social work misconduct and malpractice.

This course has received a special Ethics Course Certification (ACE#1020-E1205-2) representing the standard of excellence in ethics continuing education for social workers by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB).

This course is based on the book, Social Work Values and Ethics created by Frederic G. Reamer
