About the Course

This course is designed with an e-book that explains scene-by-scene information about the other material component, the TriStar Pictures movie, As Good As It Gets, starring Jack Nicholson. The materials demonstrate and guide participants in the application of knowledge about symptoms, diagnosis, mental status, social, vocational and educational impairments, treatment, psychiatric rehabilitation and disability management for a person who has obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It also explains the difference between treatment and psychiatric rehabilitation and, lastly, it provides a brief overview of LGBT culture and professional competencies. The movie portrays a textbook example of the disorder and is valuable for learning about the illness.
