About the Course

This course covers Sections I, II, and III from Matrix Intensive Outpatient Treatment for People With Stimulant Use Disorders.

Introduction to the Matrix Intensive Outpatient Treatment for People With Stimulant Use Disorders Approach and Package (Section I) grew from a need for structured, evidence-based treatment for clients who abuse or are dependent on stimulant drugs, particularly methamphetamine and cocaine.

The Role of Drug and Breath-Alcohol Testing in Matrix IOP (Section II) assumes that the counselor’s program has established procedures for collecting, identifying, storing, and ensuring chain of custody for collecting and transporting specimens. This section proclaims that urine or saliva drug and breath test results can provide invaluable clinical data when a lapse or relapse has occurred and the client is unable to talk about it.

Individual/Conjoint Sessions (Section III) provides clients and their families with an opportunity to establish an individualized connection with the counselor and learn about treatment.
