About the Course

This course surveys characteristics of flourishing families and common mistakes languishing families make. Participants will learn a taxonomy of character strengths, how to identify each family member’s core strengths, and see examples of strengths in action. Participants will learn how to facilitate the construction of a Family Charter which can be incorporated in an individualized family treatment and recovery plan to measure outcomes of interventions.

This course is based on the book, How Families Flourish: Strength Based Family Therapy Using Positive Psychology created by Daniel Trussell, Ph.D.

He held various clinical and senior executive positions in managed care, non profit and governmental agencies and is former Director of Community Mental Health for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health.
