About the Course

In Evidence-Based Clinical Supervision, Principals, and Practice, Dr. Derek Milne applies his extensive experience as a consultant psychologist, clinical supervisor, university clinical director, and researcher to challenges besetting clinical supervision, both in terms of supervision models and research concerning the effectiveness of supervision. Using an evidence-based practice framework in his research, Dr. Milne provides a cogent discussion of an evidence-based approach to clinical supervision (EBCS) that includes such topics as recognizing, understanding, reframing, applying, and ultimately, concluding supervision. The result is a thoughtful presentation of a comprehensive approach to clinical supervision that will be of value to those providing or receiving such supervision.

This course is based on the book, Evidence-Based Clinical Supervision: Principles and Practice created by Derek Milne, Ph.D. in 2009.

Target Audience

This course is recommended for mental health care professionals, especially those providing or receiving clinical supervision, as well as for psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and nurses who seek knowledge about an evidence-based approach to clinical supervision. In addition, due to a course emphasis on the isolation of basic components of effective supervision by drawing upon the research literature, this information should be relevant to researchers, those who administer or evaluate clinical supervision programs, and others having an interest in supervision. This course is appropriate for an intermediate to advanced level of participants' knowledge.
