About the Course

This course addresses official U.S. Department of Education & U.S. Secret Service recommendations for managing threatening situations in the school environment and for creating safe school climates. This course thoroughly reviews the recommended process for identifying, assessing, and managing students who may pose a threat of targeted violence in schools. This course includes suggestions for developing a threat assessment team within a school district as well as steps to take when a threat or a safety concern occurs. In addition, this course covers information regarding considerations about when to involve law enforcement personnel, issues involved in information sharing, and suggestions for creating safe school climates.
