About the Course

This article examines the “great debate” regarding ways to improve quality and outcome of psychotherapy (Wampold, 2001). The authors, present an approach that, regardless of clinical orientation or therapeutic technique, there are certain unique critical factors within the working relationship which distinguish high-performing psychotherapists from those characterized as average therapists. Methods for examining and implementing these critical factors and methods are presented in this article.

Scott D. Miller
Scott D. Miller, Ph.D. is the founder of the International Center for Clinical Excellence an international consortium of clinicians, researchers, and educators dedicated to promoting excellence in behavioral health services. Dr. Miller conducts workshops and training in the United States and abroad, helping hundreds of agencies and organizations, both public and private, to achieve superior results. He is the author of numerous books and articles.
Mark A. Hubble
Mark Hubble, Ph.D., is a cofounder of the Institute for the Study of Therapeutic Change. He has co-authored and edited numerous professional articles and books, including The Heart and Soul of Change: What Works in Therapy; Escape from Babel; Psychotherapy with Impossible Cases; and The Heroic Client. Recently, Hubble co-released a self-help book, Staying on Top and Keeping the Sand Out of Your Pants: A Surfer's Guide to the Good Life.
Jason Seidel
Dr. Seidel completed advanced trauma therapy training at the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute in Boulder, Colorado. He is a past associate (2005-2007) of the Institute for the Study of Therapeutic Change; and has consulted for psychjourney.com, psychinsider.com, and goodtherapy.org. He has been in private practice since 1998.
