Meta-analyses have reliably demonstrated the efficacy of cognitive–behavioral therapy in the treatment of addictions and other mental health issues. This course provides a detailed program for anger management for those who struggle with substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. The format of the course lends itself to use in a variety of clinical settings; can be adapted to accommodate different racial-ethnic minority groups and genders, and diverse treatment settings; and will be a helpful tool for the field.

Dr. Reilly is Professor Emeritus of Clinical Psychology, University of California San Francisco. He has worked extensively in substance abuse and veterans issues and has published a program for veterans that addresses anger management issues.

Dr. Shopshire has worked as a researcher and professor throughout his career and has published 26 peer reviewed articles.

Mary Kay Pribyl, Ph.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and holds a doctoral degree from Northwestern University. She has a private practice with children, adolescents and adults in Glenview, Illinois. She is a past president of the Illinois Psychological Association and has been a member of the Council of Representatives of the American Psychological Association. Her specialty areas include depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, and compulsive gambling. She has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology.

Counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge. This content is at the intermediate level.
