About the Course

The purpose of this review is to assess adverse events of antidepressants in treatment of major depressive disorder in adults 65 years of age or older, and reduce suicide risk among people with serious mental illness. This course is a deeply resourced, strong synthesis of the research regarding anti-depressant use with elderly populations. As such, it relies on multiple tables, various analysis procedures, has a focus on a necessarily narrow clinical population, and contains much information regarding the pros and cons of various experimental designs.

This course is based on the article, Adverse Effects of Pharmacologic Treatments of Major Depression in Older Adults created by Diana M. Sobieraj, Pharm.D. et al. in 2019.
