About the Course

Perpetration of sexual violence , or unwanted sexual contact without consent, is an urgent public health issue that is influenced by factors in early/late adolescence. This study is a quantitative study aimed at identifying risk factors that may improve/worsen risk for perpetration of sexual violence among adolescents. The authors offer recommendations for how educational institutions may assist in lowering further risk for perpetration of sexual violence.

Kathleen C. Basile, PhD.
Dr. Basile serves as a Senior Scientist in the Office of the Associate Director for Science in the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) of CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. She is a DVP subject matter expert for sexual violence definitions, research, evidence-based prevention strategies, and surveillance and also has expertise in intimate partner violence definitions, research and surveillance. She has authored or coauthored more than 100 presentations, journal articles, chapters, reports, and other publications.
Whitney L. Rostad
Whitney L Rostad is a senior research associate with Casey Family Programs, a non-profit organization focused on safely reducing the need for foster care and child maltreatment prevention. She has over 10 years of experience with social and behavioral health research and has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals.
Ruth W. Leemis, MPH
Ruth Leemis works at the Division of Violence Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA and has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals.

Paul Pawlicki, PsyD, received his degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL, in 2005. From 2004-2006, he taught courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, and human sexuality at Collin College in Plano, TX. He currently practices individual therapy at the Department of Sexual Medicine at Park Nicollet Health Health Services near Minneapolis, MN.
