This course is based on the book by the same name (Chapters 7 and 8). This book/course reviews time-effective and cost-effective strategies for helping clients break free of dysregulated behaviors—such as substance abuse, binge eating, compulsive spending, addictive behaviors, and aggression. Mindfulness and modification therapy (MMT) integrates mindfulness practices with elements of other evidence-based approaches. MMT can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as a beginning to more intensive therapy. This book/course reviews general theories, principles, and tips; session implementation guidelines; case examples; and guided mindfulness practices.

  3. 3 Describe and discuss the general structure of MMT overall, as well as the general structure of MMT sessions.
  4. 4 Describe and discuss the overall goals and objectives of the early sessions of MMT for the treatment of dysregulated behaviors, as well as the rationale for these goals and objectives.
  5. 5 Describe and discuss the recommended therapeutic activities for the early sessions of MMT for the treatment of dysregulated behaviors, including specific techniques and exercises used during sessions and recommended home practice activities.
