About the Course

This course is based on the newly revised Sixth Edition of Ethics in Psychotherapy and Counseling: A Practical Guide. This course covers Part III of the book (Special Topics). This book/course covers a multitude of practical and creative approaches to the ethical responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities encountered by therapists/counselors in their work. This book/course thoroughly discusses the challenges created by technologies like electronic health records, telepractice, email, texting, and practicing across state and provincial boundaries. With practical examples and clear explanations, this book/course provides a comprehensive review of the foundations of psychotherapeutic ethics, including ethics in real life, ethics in theories and codes, cultural context, ethical decision making, and moral courage. Common sources of ethical problems and pitfalls are explored, and a wide-ranging discussion of current and relevant topics is covered.
