About the Course

This course examines the epidemiological assessment of substance use disorder (SUD) using the “Know your epidemic, know your response” approach. It includes: demographic analysis, risk factors associated with mortality caused by substance use disorders, cluster analysis and spatiotemporal risk estimation, general demographic profile of the SUD epidemic in the U.S., and socioeconomic factors and comorbidities associated with the SUD epidemic.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Know Your Epidemic, Know Your Response”-Epidemiological Assessment of the Substance Use Disorder Crisis in the United States created by Andrés Hernández et al. in 2021.
