About the Course

This training includes brief historical, political, and cultural perspectives on domestic violence as well as the current state of the literature on this issue. Following this overview, Dr. Vazquez discusses various forms of violence that impact emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. Although the content of this webinar is not exhaustive, the hope is to provide participants with an introductory, fundamental knowledge of how domestic violence has manifested throughout society and how to approach survivors using a trauma-informed, intersectional, clinical framework. Finally, vicarious trauma and self-care will be discussed, along with how to promote post-traumatic growth in clients.

This course is based on the recorded webinar, Domestic Violence Victimization Clinical Considerations created by Rebecca Vazquez, PhD, LPC, NCC in 2023.
