About the Course

This study compares the effectiveness of three psychotherapeutic techniques—Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP), and Body Scan Meditation (BSM)—in reducing distress associated with negative memories. Conducted on a Non-Clinical sample, each participant received one 40-minute session for distressing memories, and results were measured using Subjective Units of Disturbance (SUD) and Memory Telling Duration (MTD). Findings indicate significant decreases in distress levels post-session for EMDR and BSP, with moderate effects from BSM. The study suggests potential benefits of these techniques, highlighting the role of body-focused mindfulness in therapeutic settings.

This course is based on the reading online article, Psychotherapeutic Techniques for Distressing Memories created by Fabio D’Antoni et al in 2022.
