About the Course

The manual addresses the unique needs of diverse populations, including combat veterans, sexual assault survivors, and culturally diverse and LGBTQIA+ clients.

This course is based on Part 1 of the book, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD created by Patricia A. Resick, PhD, ABPP et al in 2024.

Patricia A. Resick, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Resnick is a Professor Emeritus at Duke University. She developed cognitive processing therapy and has led significant research on its efficacy for trauma recovery among civilians and military personnel. Dr. Resick is the recipient of numerous research and mentoring awards, including Lifetime Achievement Awards from Division 56 (Trauma Psychology) of the American Psychological Association, ISTSS, and ABCT. She has had more than 200 articles published in peer reviewed journals and has authored 9 books.
Candice M. Monson, PhD
Dr. Monson is a Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University. She has been recognized for her work on the interpersonal factors in traumatization and the development of effective PTSD treatments, including cognitive processing therapy and cognitive-behavioral conjoint therapy. Dr. Monson has published over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 7 books, and 40 book chapters.
Kathleen M. Chard, PhD
Dr. Chard is the Associate Chief of Staff for Research at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati, where she leads the dissemination of cognitive processing therapy to VA clinicians nationwide. She is the creator of the CPT for Sexual Abuse treatment manual and has had work published in peer reviewed journals.

Tiara Totten is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor with more than nine years of experience working with adolescents and adults utilizing person-centered, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral techniques to help individuals achieve optimal wellness. She has extensive experience in individual therapy, group therapy and supervision and is currently working on her PsyD in clinical psychology.

Target Audience

Counselors, addiction specialists, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.
