She specializes in socio‑psychological dimensions of addiction and recovery, including gambling disorder, recovery capital, and gender influences, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. She has led major studies on barriers to recovery, including projects on veterans, and held a research sabbatical at Yale and King’s College London.
