About the Course

Female college students have increased their alcohol consumption rates. The current study sought to replicate the effectiveness of a female-specific motivational-enhancement group intervention and extended previous work by adding a six-month follow-up. The intervention included several motivational-enhancement components delivered in a group setting and included a group discussion of females-specific reasons for drinking.

This course is based on the reading online article, Preventing Risky Drinking in First-Year College Women: Further Validation of a Female-Specific Motivational-Enhancement Group Intervention created by Joseph W. Labrie, Ph.D., Karen K. Huchting, M.A., Andrew Lac, M.S., Summer Tawalbeh, B.A., Alysha D. Thompson, B.A. et al in 2009.
