About the Course

This course examine a feasibility pilot study of substance use prevention and sexual risk behavior in Hispanic adolescents, using an internet adaptation program. It includes: simulated parent group discussions, telenovela series, interactive exercises, line family sessions, effective parent-adolescent communication, parental attention and involvement in the adolescent’s life, importance of friends, importance of communication about sex, and intervention modification and challenges.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, EHealth Familias Unidas-Pilot Study of an Internet Adaptation of an Evidence-Based Family Intervention to Reduce Drug Use and Sexual Risk Behaviors Among Hispanic Adolescents created by Yannine Estrada, PhD. et al. in 2017.

She also has 11 years of experience as a child protective social worker, where she earned certificates in domestic abuse/family violence and substance abuse.
