About the Course

This course looks at the prevalence of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in the United States. It underlines the necessity of pharmacotherapy as a treatment option for AUD, as well as the importance of comprehensive treatment programs that incorporate behavioral interventions in addition to medicine. Potential benefits of AUD drugs in improving medical and mental health, and quality of life are also discussed.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Alcohol Use Disorder: The Role of Medication in Recovery created by Barbara Mason, PhD and Charles J. Heyser, PhD in 2021.
