About the Course

This course examines the literature on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the link to substance misuse. Through an umbrella review of existing reviews, research on the relationship between ACEs and substance misuse was synthesized and the mechanisms linking these reviewed. Potential intervention targets are identified and implications on public policy, prevention, and treatment of substance misuse are presented.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, An Umbrella Review of the Links Between Adverse Childhood Experiences and Substance Misuse: What, Why, and Where Do We Go From Here? created by Lucinda Grummitt, PhD et al. in 2022.
