About the Course

This publication addresses the need to enhance the acceptability and use of evidence-based interventions in AI/AN communities by modifying them to better meet the particular requirements and preferences of tribal communities and their members. The course describes efforts toward building a relationship between the community and academic research partners, and report findings from the initial qualitative phase of the project aimed at identifying key ideas and considerations for developing and evaluating a culturally-adapted intervention.

This course is based on the reading online article, Partnering With Native Communities to Develop a Culturally Grounded Intervention for Substance Use Disorder created by Monica C. Skewes, Ph.D. in 2023.
