About the Course

The article presents the findings of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) that tested the efficacy of harm reduction treatment for alcohol (HaRT-A) among people experiencing homelessness and alcohol use disorder (AUD). The study compared the outcomes of participants receiving HaRT-A to a control group receiving services as usual over a three-month period. The results demonstrated that HaRT-A participants showed significant reductions in peak alcohol use, alcohol-related harm, AUD symptoms, and positive alcohol tests, although there were no significant improvements in quality of life (QoL).

Additionally, she developed and continues to lead the Continuing Education Program for Social Workers and Nurses and often leads complex process improvement projects Prior to this, her primary focus was in mental health and worked in both the outpatient and inpatient settings providing support to adults with mental illness.
