About the Event

Empowering our clients is a common mantra of counseling, social work, and other human service disciplines. Empowerment can include providing something the client lacks, such as coping skills, information/education, and collaborative problem-solving. Additionally, bringing forth what a client already has by raising awareness of clients' strengths as well as respecting and reinforcing their autonomy in making their own choices is also a vital part of empowerment. This workshop will help practitioners evaluate their understanding of the process of empowering our clients, learn strategies to promote empowerment, and watch for pitfalls that can dis-empower and demotivate our clients. Case examples from various target populations and diagnoses will be shared.

Live Event This is a live online event. It will be conducted via Zoom Webinar.
