About the Event

As trauma, stress, and emotional overwhelm are increasingly recognized as body-based experiences, therapists are called to expand beyond traditional talk therapy to include somatic approaches that engage the wisdom of the body. This 3-hour introductory training offers mental health professionals a foundational understanding of somatic therapy and dance/movement therapy (DMT) as powerful tools for client transformation.

Participants will explore how the body holds trauma, emotion, and resilience—and how integrating body-based practices into the therapeutic process enhances regulation, deepens emotional access, and supports lasting change. Through experiential exercises, movement exploration, and guided reflection, attendees will gain practical strategies to apply immediately in their work with clients.

Key concepts such as interoception, proprioception, exteroception, and the autonomic nervous system will be covered, alongside simple movement interventions that support grounding, containment, and expression. Emphasis will be placed on cultivating the therapist’s own embodied awareness as a pathway to co-regulation and presence in the therapeutic relationship.

Whether new to somatic work or looking to expand current practice, this training invites therapists to regulate, release, and reconnect—within themselves and with those they serve.

Live Event This is a live online event. It will be conducted via Zoom Webinar.
