Every teen deserves to be seen, and every clinician deserves the insight to see clearly. Take the next step toward more equitable, effective, and compassionate adolescent care.
Session Description: This engaging and practical workshop equips clinicians, helping professionals, caregivers, and educators with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize the signs and symptoms of adolescent depression—particularly among historically underserved BIPOC youth.
Adolescent depression is frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated, especially among female teens of color. This workshop places special emphasis on the unique challenges faced by BIPOC adolescents and explores how both the race and gender of the client and clinician can influence diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
Through a blend of didactic instruction and interactive, experiential learning, participants will deepen their understanding of the intersections between historical trauma, family dynamics, and social constructs in shaping mental health. The training will also offer concrete, culturally responsive treatment interventions to support more accurate assessments and effective care.
