About the Course

Treatment Modules (Section IV): From Substance Abuse Relapse Prevention for Older Adults comprises nine group session modules, which are organized and written to be as accessible and useful as possible for counselors. The modules are identified by their main topic and are covered in 16 sessions. Each module begins with a brief overview of the topic, followed by an outline and a written presentation for the counselor of each session in the module.

Module 1 covers analysis of substance use behavior where clients can learn how to analyze their behavior by breaking down their individual substance use behavior chains into antecedents, behaviors, and consequences.

Module 2 covers how to manage social pressure where clients can learn the refusal skills they need when social pressure creates high-risk situations for substance abuse relapse.
