About the Course

The Fourth Edition of Ethical Conflicts in Psychology, addresses ethical conflicts often associated with the psychologist’s performance in the professional, scientific and academic fields. The primary objective of the author is to help mental health graduate students and professional psychologists become more sensitive to the ethical aspects and associated conflicts encountered in their work. The author’s intent in this regard is to advocate for a deeper level of thought concerning these issues and, as a result, become more skeptical about their own professional behavior and cognizant of the ethical constraints under which they work. The author provides updated guidance on such complex issues as the duty-to-protect, multiple relationships, privacy, privileged communication, and the treatment of minors and clients with HIV/AIDS, particularly with regard to confidentiality. New supportive documents published since 2003 and additional commentaries have been excerpted from a wide variety of publications to illuminate the most salient points related to current issues in ethics.

This course is based on the book, Ethical Conflicts in Psychology created by Donald N. Bersoff
