Ms. Cohen helps readers and therapists discover how to create a comprehensive and individual path to healing for each person.

French Toast for Breakfast explores in depth the psychological meaning behind the fear of fat; the connection between sexuality, shame and anger with emotional eating; the fear of success; information on medication and eating disorders; and how to recover from relapse.

Mary Anne Cohen is a professional psychotherapist since 1972 and Director of The New York Center for Eating Disorders. She is author of Lasagna for Lunch: Declaring Peace with Emotional Eating (New Forge Press, 2013) and French Toast for Breakfast: Declaring Peace with Emotional Eating (New Forge Press, 2016, Spanish Edition, 1997). She is an ongoing contributor to RecoveryWarriors.com, MindBodyGreen.com, SuccessStory.com, a monthly columnist for Image Magazine since 2002, and the professional book reviewer for EDReferral.com. Ms. Cohen created the term "emotional eating" in 1982.

She hosted her own radio show on eating disorders broadcasting to NY/NJ/Connecticut on AM and FM radios and has appeared on national television. Ms. Cohen lectures extensively to professional and community groups and is a member of the National Eating Disorders Association, EDReferral.com, Binge Eating Disorder Association, and RecoveryWarriors.com.

Her professional associations include the Academy of Certified Social Workers, the Society of Clinical Social Workers, the Association of Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work. She is a Diplomate of The National Association of Social Workers and Board Certified by The American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
