This course examines methamphetamine use. It includes: what methamphetamine is, scope of use in the US, how it is misused, how methamphetamine is manufactured, how it is different from other stimulants such as cocaine, what the immediate short-term effects of misuse are, what the long-term effects of misuse are, the risks of methamphetamine misuse during pregnancy, misuse of methamphetamine and risk for contracting HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C, effective treatments for misuse, and treatments that are under development for methamphetamine use and addiction.
