About the Course

This course examines the role of character strengths in the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and negative physical and mental health outcomes. The research evaluates the relationship between participants’ ACEs and negative health outcomes, the relationship between character strengths and negative outcomes, and the moderating effect of character strengths. While the present study did not find evidence that character strengths mitigated effects of ACEs, results indicate these strengths do have an independent effect on physical and mental health.

Jacquelyn received a Master of Arts in General Psychology from Marietta College in Marietta, OH in 2015. She is licensed with the Ohio Chemical Dependency Board as both a clinical and prevention professional and worked in the substance abuse treatment and prevention field in Ohio from 2015 to beginning her current role in April of 2020. Jacquelyn is currently the CEO of a behavioral health organization which operates both a youth residential treatment facility and an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. She enjoys volunteering with various community organizations as well and currently serves on her local Mental Health and Recovery Board.

Counselors, marriage and family therapists, prevention specialists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.
