About the Event

The world of emerging adults, leaving high school or college to enter a new world of responsibility for one’s own decisions (and the consequences) can be a time of paralyzing anxiety. Isolation demands of COVID-19 brought many young adults back to family homes. The impact of this retreat from jobs and schools has shaken confidence, especially in those who have suffered some measure of social anxiety. In 2021, as they emerge from the virus restrictions, young adults will be faced with managing anxiety about re-entering the social realms of universities and jobs. They may suffer panic about physical safety depending on their level of health anxiety and the realities that the virus will be around for some time. In this session, Dr. Wehrenberg will review panic management and health anxiety protocols that really work and will focus on handling social anxiety and worry for young adults.

Margaret Wehrenberg, Psy.D., clinical psychologist and internationally known trainer for mental health professionals, is the author of Pandemic Anxiety: Fear, Stress and Loss in Traumatic Times and The 10 Best Ever Depression Management Techniques, as well as 7 other books on the treatment of anxiety and depression, published by W.W. Norton. She has contributed articles to the award-winning Psychotherapy Networker magazine and blogs on depression for Psychology Today. She is noted for her down-to-earth, pragmatic teaching style.
