About the Event

COVID-19 is a unique public health emergency, made more challenging as everyone in the United States and around the world has been impacted. Children and their families are experiencing high levels of anxiety, worry, and fear. Families with mental health concerns before COVID-19 are at increased risk for mental health challenges since COVID-19 began. Issues of social injustice are superimposed on the impact of COVID-19, further increasing the need for mental health services. Finally, providers of services are also impacted as they continue to offer services to children and families while balancing the new needs of their own families and loved ones. As mental health professionals, COVID-19 has not changed that we care, but has changed how we care. This presentation will address the unique features of COVID-19 and how children and families are impacted as well as how mental health disparities and anti-racism is further affecting families. Specific ideas and skills will be offered to use in our mental health efforts with families. Finally, the importance of self-care for providers, with specific recommendations, will be offered

Live Event This is a live online event. It will be conducted via Zoom Webinar.
