About the Event

This live interactive continuing education course is designed to provide therapists with practical knowledge and skills related to the diaphragm. Therapists will gain a better understanding of the diaphragm's anatomy, clinical relevance as a core stabilizer and thoracoabdominal pump, and its implications for patient care. The course focuses on applying this knowledge in real-world scenarios, particularly in the context of patients recovering from mechanical ventilation. Therapists will learn strategies to minimize ventilator-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (VIDD) and enhance positive patient outcomes, supported by case studies that explore systemic causes of diaphragm weakness.

The live interactive course also addresses practical challenges faced by therapists. Therapists will gain insights into the importance of posture, the role of the diaphragm in gait and balance, and its significance as a core stabilizer. Through specific exercises and techniques, therapists will learn diaphragm strengthening and stretching methods suitable for various positions such as lying, sitting, standing, and ambulation. By the end of the course, therapists will be equipped with practical tools to integrate diaphragm rehabilitation into their treatment plans, optimizing the recovery of patients who have undergone mechanical ventilation.

Live Event
This live online event will be held as a Zoom Webinar. Attendees will have the option to interact through features such as the Chat and Q&A, but cameras and microphones will not be enabled.
