About the Event

The result of trauma varies from individual to individual, depending upon each person’s unique circumstances. As mental health professionals, we know that experiencing trauma can lead to mental, emotional, physical, and cognitive challenges. Anxiety, PTSD, depression, and other mental health-related concerns are just some of the diagnoses you may encounter when working with trauma survivors. As mental health professionals, we want to help our clients heal from their trauma and live their best lives. But knowing where to start can be difficult. In this live webinar, Katelyn Baxter-Musser will provide practical strategies and techniques stemming from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to enhance your clinical practice when working with trauma survivors. Participants will learn skills to help clients regulate their emotions, manage triggers, combat negative thoughts, and relaxation techniques. This presentation provides you with skills you take straight from this training and into your office!

Katelyn Baxter-Musser

Katelyn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Katelyn’s clinical experience includes working for ten years in various roles as a case manager, child and family therapist, trauma therapist and clinical coordinator. Katelyn has worked in agencies, on Native American reservations and currently is in private practice. Katelyn works with children starting at age 4, adolescents and adults. Katelyn works with people individually, as a couple or as a family.

Katelyn is trained in and uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, Mindfulness, and EMDR. She specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, dissociative disorders, personality disorders, grief & relationship issues. Katelyn works to help clients process a variety of traumatic and difficult experiences that cause people to feel stuck in their daily life.

This live interactive webinar is intended for behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, MFT's and Addiction Professionals.

Learning Objectives

After taking this activity, you should be able to:

  1. 1 Describe the effects of trauma and understand how CBT and DBT clinical interventions can benefit survivors of trauma.
  2. 2 Apply CBT techniques to dismantle negative beliefs clients develop as a result of experiencing trauma.
  3. 3 Identify how to integrate DBT skills into sessions with clients to enhance client’s ability to regulate emotions and decrease distress related to triggers of trauma.
