About the Course

With acute and critical care becoming growing practice areas, being able to recognize EKGs and correlate that understanding with patient presentation is increasingly crucial. With the fast pace of the acute and ICU environment, elevating skill for the PT and OT is paramount to provide best care to patients of all diagnoses, not just cardiopulmonary patients. This crash course in EKG basics, recognition of rhythms, and the most important - correlation to patient presentation and clinical decision making, will provide the learner with immediate usable knowledge and tools for clinical practice.

Rooted in exercise physiology, correlations with outpatient and rehabilitation environments will be drawn to provide clinicians across the continuum of care with this essential skill. This course is for novice and expert clinicians alike to learn and review an essential part of rehabilitation practice and patient monitoring as vital as vital signs.

This course is based on the recorded webinar, They Don't Miss a Beat! EKG Crash Course for Rehab Therapists created by Katelyn Whitlock, PT, DPT, MEd, CCS in 2025.
