About the Course

Healthcare in the United States has become extremely transactional often leaving the patient out of the equation. Instead, it focuses on third party factors including payors, administrators, and other non-clinical influences/factors.

Did you know that patients who like their therapists have been known to recover faster? In this course, we'll discuss and learn powerful concepts that bolster relationships, trust, compassion, and empathy for the clinician-patient relationship. We'll go through how to recognize these components and how they affect patient outcomes. This includes a basic understanding of a normal (or pathological) relationship between clinician and patient and ways to foster it, and ways to not!

We'll walk through easy-to-follow relational methods and approaches that create a humanistic approach patients respond to. Yes, even those harder patients. Then we'll walk through various common scenarios and how to implement a Therapeutic Alliance with your patients in the clinic so you get raving reviews, and patient outcomes are enhanced.

This course is based on the recorded webinar, How to Treat Your Patient Like a Person: Optimizing Clinical Outcomes created by Benjamin Gelfand, PT, DPT, SCS in 2024.
