About the Event

In late 2024 and early 2025, the APTA Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy introduced significant revisions to the Hip Osteoarthritis Clinical Practice Guideline, redefining best practice for today’s clinician. These updates elevate dry needling to a high‑level intervention, refine expectations for therapeutic exercise dosing, and clarify which traditional modalities should be deprioritized based on current evidence. This course distills those changes into clear, clinically relevant guidance so you can confidently align your care with the most current standards.

In this live interactive 2‑hour course, you’ll learn how to implement the updated CPG recommendations with precision and purpose. 7:00–7:20 PM ET — Introduction & Diagnostic Shifts: Beyond Imaging: Adopting the latest American College of Radiology (ACR) criteria for appropriate imaging pathways. Standardized Examination: Integrating the core set of physical performance measures (e.g., 30-sec chair stand, TUG, 6MWT) and self-reported outcomes (WOMAC, HOOS, PROMIS).

7:20–7:55 PM ET — High-Impact Interventions, Manual Therapy & Dry Needling: Manual Therapy Refined: Utilizing MWM and high-force distraction; adjusting force amplitude based on bony morphology and tissue irritability. The Dry Needling Addition: Practical application for Grades II–III hip OA; targeting the iliopsoas, rectus femoris, and gluteals for short-term gains.
