Deconstructing Anxiety: A Deep Dive - 3 Day Virtual Intensive

Thursday, January 15 through Saturday, January 17, 2026 | 10:00am – 5:45pm US Eastern Time | Up to 20 CE Credit Hours

Presenter: Todd Pressman, Ph.D.

The theory and techniques offered in this workshop, such as “The Alchemist”, “The Witness” and “The Warrior’s Stance”, will teach you how to uncover the core fear and chief defense quickly and reliably. These will be understood as the architects of personality and the creators of our perceptual world. At the deepest level, we will pinpoint the precise moment where resistance is created and how to release it. This leads to the ultimate goal of letting go “the resistance to resistance”, a key to transforming our entire view of Self and redefining the limits of the human experience. Come prepared for an exciting adventure into the deepest regions of the unconscious, where the hidden fears at the source of our difficulties live, to bring them out into consciousness, available for rapid and lasting transformation.

This live interactive webinar is intended for behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, MFT's and Addiction Professionals.

Hello, I'm Dr Todd Pressman, and I've been invited to answer some questions on how we get to the ultimate source of anxiety, according to the deconstructing anxiety program.

The first question is, what have I found to be the deepest illusion or mistaken belief at the root of most anxiety, something that once seen clearly begins to dissolve the fear itself. It's actually a great first question that helps us explain, really, the cornerstone of the whole deconstructing anxiety model, the principle of the core fear, the deepest illusion, or mistaken belief at the root of most anxiety, I would say, is that there are many different sources of anxiety, and what deconstructing anxiety shows that, I think is so extremely helpful, is that there's actually one source of anxiety, what we call the core fear. And it is actually a belief or interpretation of how life can be threatening that we learn in childhood. And it colors every idea of fear or any other problem throughout life.

So once we buy into this early idea of how life can be threatening, it colors, or again becomes the lens through which we interpret every problem from then on. It's a dramatic statement, but it's easy to demonstrate, actually, with a process we do in the program called digging for gold. You take any problem, go through this deconstruction process, find the same single core fear, belief at the root. Take another problem, go through the process, same single core fear, and then we get this appreciation that that really is the true driver of all of our unpleasant or difficult experience in life.

Todd Pressman, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and international seminar leader. He is widely known for his work with Deconstructing Anxiety. He graduated with degrees in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and Saybrook Institute. His books Deconstructing Anxiety: The Journey from Fear to Fulfillment, Radical Joy: Awakening Your Potential For True Fulfillment and The Bicycle Repair Shop: A True Story Of Recovery From Multiple Personality Disorder have all received high acclaim. In 1982, he traveled the world to study the great wisdom and healing traditions, including with a Zen master, a Jain family, a Zoroastrian high priest and a Sri Lankan firewalker. His education also includes an internship under Stanislav Grof, M.D. at the Esalen Institute. With a background deeply rooted in tradition (he was groomed by a father whose teachers were taught by Sigmund Freud), he has integrated this wide-ranging experience into a new program of psychological development called "Deconstructing Anxiety". His working model is based on Michelangelo’s ideal: to release the statue from the stone, the authentic Self from the overlays of imposed identity, into the discovery of freedom and fulfillment.
