About the Course

This course is a review of Alcohol-Focused Behavioral Couple Therapy literature. It includes active ingredients, moderators, and mediators of treatment outcome. Outcomes were measured for patient drinking, improved relationship functioning, and reductions in intimate partner violence. ABCT adaptations discussed are for substance abuse (SUD), intimate partner violence (IPV) in the general population and PTSD and TBI specific to veterans.

This course is based on the article, Alcohol-Focused Behavioral Couple Therapy created by Barbara McCrady, Ph.D. et al in 2016.

She also has 11 years of experience as a child protective social worker, where she earned certificates in domestic abuse/family violence and substance abuse.

Target Audience

Counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists and social workers. This course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge. This content is at the beginner level.
