About the Course

This course examines women’s experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) at different life course stages. Shorter and longer term consequences of abusive relationships are explored. Implications for community education and services and supports are presented. The interaction between gambling and IPV is also considered.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Impacts of Male Intimate Partner Violence on Women: A Life Course Perspective created by Nerille Hing, PhD et al. in 2021.

Nirilee Hing, PhD, is a Professor at the School of Health, Medical, and Applied Sciences at Central Queensland University in Bundaberg, Australia. Dr. Hing has been conducting research for 25 years.

Catherine O'Mullan, DrPH, is a Senior Lecture at the School of Health, Medical, and Applied Sciences at Cental Queensland University in Bundaberg, Australia. Dr. O'Mullan has worked as a health promotion practitioner for over 20 years both in Australia and in the UK.
