About the Course

This course combines two recent research articles dealing with the acceptability of medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder among American Indian/Alaska Natives. The articles explore barriers to MAT treatment with this population as well as possible ways to improve MAT treatment among American Indian/Alaska Natives.

This course is based on the reading based online article Future Directions for Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder with American Indian/Alaska Natives created by Kamilla Venner et al in 2018 and the reading based online article Native populations and the opioid crisis: forging a path to recovery created by Martina Whelshula et al in 2021.
